Internet-Cottages launches Weekend Ski section – for weekend skiing in the French Alps

Cottages for weekend skiing

London, UK (PRWEB) January 25, 2012

If you’ve ever passed through Geneva airport in Switzerland on a Thursday evening, you cannot fail to have noticed the vast numbers of generally single-sex groups, clad in their bright attire… and on their way to an intensive, take-no-prisoners, 3 days of weekend skiing.

Where weekend skiing was once the purview of the rich and famous, or for those lucky enough to be treated to the Corporate jolly, it’s now hit the mainstream, with ever-increasing numbers of skiers leaving behind the drab weather at home for their fix of crisp mountain air.

On the one hand it’s incredibly easy, with frequent flights from the low-cost airlines, and cheap, flexible ski transfers to most French resorts. The flip-side however is that finding accommodation for just a weekend skiing can be extremely difficult, since most major accommodation providers still work on Saturday changeovers, making them rather reluctant to accept weekend bookings which effectively block-off the full weeks either side.

Happily, a number of enlightened souls have spotted the gap in the market, and adapted their booking arrangements to better accommodate weekend skiing bookings. A selection of these can be found on Internet-Cottages’ new Weekend Skiing section, which has both self-catering and catered properties available for weekend breaks.

As a seasoned weekend skier himself, Ian Locke of Internet-Cottages obviously has a vested interest in seeing the Weekend Ski section grow: “I’ve been doing weekend trips for about 5 years now, and perhaps not surprisingly given my line of work, it generally falls to me to sort out the accommodation – and it never fails to be a nightmare! I really don’t understand why everything in The Alps has to revolve around Saturdays – it guarantees you’re going to get traffic jams, the flights are going to be more expensive, and it also really doesn’t work well for the weekend market. Needless to say, I’m going to make it my mission to get as much weekend accommodation as we can onto the Internet-Cottages site!!”.

Luxury Car Revamps its Website

Luxury cars for rental
(PRWEB) December 21, 2011

Hire Luxury Car is pleased to announce its redesigned website, which it hopes will allow visitors to easily find the luxury car they desire while enjoying a cutting-edge design and quality images. The updated layout features several dozens of luxury cars from various prestige car brands such as Mercedes, Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Mini and more. Cars are available for rental throughout Europe, including Germany, France, Italy, UK, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries. The global rental company intends to feature many more locations in the near future, both in Europe and in other continents.

“The new design is an attempt to accomplish two goals – offering our visitors a luxurious and unique browsing experience, while keeping the usability of the site as simple and friendly as can be” says David Robertson, Director of Hire Luxury Car. “The physical service we provide our clients in the real world is luxurious, effortless and inspiring. We wanted the website to convey that very same feeling.”

The development of the new website took into account the needs and behavior of typical luxury car rental clients. On the one hand, the site is designed to inspire visitors who are shopping for ideas before their next driving experience. It does so, for example, by displaying the latest supercars or cabriolets available for rental in various locations. On the other hand, the new design also caters for those who know the exact car model they want to hire, down to the trim and color, by allowing visitors to easily communicate their precise needs by submitting a simple application.

A Highly Personalized Luxury Car Service

Luxury car hire is considered to be a highly personalized service, mainly due to the specific demands and requirements that come hand-in-hand with a high-end clientele. Thus, Hire Luxury Car does not offer an online payment feature. Instead, there is a “request a call back” option which allows for a more personal process.

The site offers other VIP and concierge services that are complimentary to the luxury car rental service, such as Chauffeur Services, Meet and Greet Airport Pickup, Wedding Getaways, Gift Vouchers and more. These services are currently offered across Europe.

Top French Ski Resorts Near Geneva Airport

chaletsArticle by Lukas Johannes, picture and choice of videos by Admin

The Swiss Alps boast some of the world’s best skiing and there are many of these top resorts located just a short trip from Geneva Airport. In order to maximise the time you spend on the ski fields and minimise the fuss of getting to the ski resorts, one of the best choices are ski transfers. Geneva Airport has many of these ski transfers available to you to get you to your chalet near top local ski fields as fast as possible, not just in Switzerland, but in France as well. If you pre-book your transfers, then you can be assured that you will be gliding down the slopes of the world’s best ski runs before you know it.

Geneva Airport is the best Gateway to the French Alps

Many of the best ski resorts near Geneva Airport are actually located over the French border. For this reason lots of the ski transfer companies have cars that are actually French registered. One of these French ski areas is Portes du Soleil and for your ski transfers, Geneva companies can transport you to any of the ski resorts that are included in this area such as: Abondance, La Chapelle d’Abondance, La Grande Terche, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine, Saint Jean d’Aulps, Champoussin, Champéry, Les Crosets, Morgins,Torgon, and several others. This group of ski resorts offers you more than 400 ski runs to choose between – that is a whole lot of variety!

Ski and Party in the One Day

Chamonix is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world and it is located in the picturesque Mont Blanc region with easy access to the resorts provided by ski transfers. Geneva Airport based companies can get you there in no time.

While it is most famous for its challenging pistes designed for expert skiers, there is a great variety of ski runs for people of all ability levels. The après ski activities are just as dynamic as the skiing action since it has loads of bars and restaurants servicing holiday makers. Chamonix is open from early December all the way through until May. Since the resort is at a high altitude, the reliability of the snow cover and quality is very good and you can still enjoy good quality skiing late in the season.

Romantic French Skiing Getaways

Argentière is a resort that is a little more laid back than Chamonix, but still part of the Mount Blanc ski ticket. If you are looking for a romantic ski getaway with your loved one, this is a good choice. You can enjoy the stunning vistas and scenery of the region in a location that is quieter and more intimate than Chamonix. There are 30 kilometres of ski runs at this resort, and since it is over 2500 metres the quality of natural snow throughout the season is always high.

Ski transfers – Geneva Airport based – are able to transport you to some of the world’s premier ski resorts that are not only located in Switzerland, but also over the border in France. There are group and private transfers offered and the drivers will meet you at the airport gate and escort you right to your accommodation – saving you a lot of time and hassle.

Portes Du Soleil – Ski Resorts Near Geneva

Geneva Airport Transfers

Now that you have booked your flight for your ski holidays, one that lands at Geneva airport, transfers are the next thing to arrange. But transfers to where? If you haven’t quite made up your mind which of the numerous wonderful ski resorts to choose for your holidays, here’s a tip: Portes du Soleil is great!

Portes du Soleil is one of the biggest and most popular destinations close to the convenience of Geneva airport. Transfers to and from this ski area are plentiful; and no wonder – it is, after all, the closest major ski area to Geneva airport. Transfers coming from Geneva to Portes du Soleil take from only an hour to an hour and a half by private vehicle, which means more time for skiing. The short travel time means you won’t need to take a long to recover from your Geneva airport transfers!

Portes Soleil, France/Switzerland

Ski Resorts Porte du Soleil

Which particular resort to go, however? Here are a few suggestions:

Les Gets the nearest resort when coming from Geneva airport, transfers to this picturesque ski town with wooden chalets and fairy lights on snowy slopes take under an hour. That means you can get skiing just as soon as you stow your luggage and strap on your equipment!

It is interesting to note that while the altitude is low in Les Gets, the snow record is excellent – giving skiers and snowboarders great opportunities whether they are beginners or intermediates. One of the best resorts for family holidays even those with little children, it has a number of good ski schools for the kids and younger beginners. What’s more, the short travel time on the Geneva airport transfers practically guarantees that the little ones won’t already be too bored and cranky when you get to your ski chalets!

If you’re looking for a resort with a bustling nightlife, clubs and excitement, however, you might be better off at one of the other resorts. Good thing Portes du Soleil is quite large – you’ll find what you’re looking for nearby!

Morzine This is considered by many British skiers to be their second home, especially with its large seasonaire community. Morzine is one of the biggest resort towns and has the distinction of really having been a town long before the others. Geneva airport transfers to Morzine take around an hour, giving you a hassle-free arrival. Morzine is one of those resorts where non-skiers will find plenty to occupy their time as well, with plenty of shops, restaurants and other sporting options. A relaxed and friendly resort for those who want to take it easy, there is a cool and easygoing nightlife with music bars, restaurants, and the odd bowling game. Super Morzine, the plateau above the town, is a perfect place for the family, with some easy runs.

Avoriaz The modern, almost futuristic, village of Avoriaz was conceived and built in the 1960s – by a skier and for skiers. This point becomes obvious when you consider the ski-in, ski-out capabilities, with pistes instead of streets. However, it has since evolved into a family-friendly resort, with many options for other activities. Children will adore the horse-drawn sleighs taking the luggage to the ski chalets. Geneva airport transfers coming here take a little longer than Les Gets or Morzine- around an hour and a half.

Kaba Introduces Self-Boarding Technology into the United States

Self boarding
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) August 16, 2012

Self-boarding with Kaba

As part of the new state-of-the-art multi-billion dollar Terminal 3 (T3), which opened June 27, 2012 at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, NV, the Kaba Self-Boarding Gates made their United States debut. McCarran International Airport is the seventh-largest airport in the United States, serving more than 41 million passengers annually. Kaba builds on the experience garnered at installations in Vienna, Frankfurt, Rome, and other airport terminals throughout Europe. The expertise acquired internationally by Kaba in providing integrated solutions for protecting people and property has found a natural application in the airport sector, which has specific requirements for access control solutions.

Self-boarding technology is the future for today’s aviation industry, says David Wurtz, Director of Business Development, Physical Access Systems, for Kaba Access and Data Systems (ADS)  Americas.  The automation of passenger processing begins with self-check in, and now extends the ability for passengers to board the aircraft by scanning on their own, the same boarding pass generated by self-check in technology. The self-boarding gate offers numerous time and cost saving opportunities, including reduced wait times, reduced costs due to better managing the boarding process, and higher capacity utilization for the airport. Self-boarding frees agents from scanning boarding passes; allowing them to focus on customer service and other issues requiring individual attention, which result in more on time departures and an overall improvement in the total passenger experience.

Every gate in McCarran’s new T3 terminal is configured with a Kaba Self-Boarding Gate. The security gate installed is the ideal solution for optimizing passenger flow, and making access and boarding pass check faster and easier, without compromising security or comfort. A high security level is ensured by a system of infrared protection sensors integrated within the structure, which allows secure and safe access to every single passenger, even those with carry-on luggage.

It is an easy-to-use application, says Stephen Pollack, Director of Marketing for Kaba ADS Americas. The user is guided through the very short check-in procedure by means of signaling lights and a display. Upon verification of the boarding pass, the passenger will see a confirmation of flight, area, remaining time etc. This solution is not intended to replace staff, but rather offers them the opportunity to better service the airlines customers by freeing their time during the boarding process.

About Kaba Access and Data Systems Americas

With offices in both Lexington, Kentucky and Winston-Salem, NC, Kaba Access and Data Systems (ADS) Americas is a subsidiary of the Kaba Group (SWX-KABN). The Kaba Group is headquartered in Rumlang, Switzerland with over 8,000 employees in nearly 60 countries. Kaba ADS Americas offers comprehensive solutions for security at access points to buildings, containers, as well as for recording personal and enterprise data. Fun: After self-boarding more security is provided inside the aircraft…

Comfortable and Friendly Zurich Airport

Train Station, Fitness Center, huge Shopping area, a whole bulk of Restaurants… Zurich Airport is just one of the best and friendliest Airports world wide!

Edelweiss Shop at Zurich Airport

Zurich Airport Edelweiss Shop

There is even an Edelweiss Souvenir Shop entertaining the travellers at Zurich Airport. This is the place to buy a Cuckoo Clock, a Swiss Army Knife, a Cow Bell, a T-Shirt, a Watch or one of the other cute and unique Swiss Souvenirs.

Huge and attractive  shopping areas are making your staying at Zurich Airport passing more quickly. Staying at Zurich Airport is really exciting and entertaining. If you are outside the Transit area it’s a good idea to visit the observation desk for watching all those starting and landing airplanes. The observation desk grants an excellent sight to all of the three runways.

Parking space around Zurich Airport is more than just expensive. In many cases the parking fee may even exceed the airline fair. It’s definitely not recommended to let the  car there for a longer time period. But there is no need riding a car to Zurich Airport. Zurich Airport can be reached easily by Intercity Trains from all over Switzerland and approximately every ten minutes or so there is a train heading for the center of the City of Zurich.

Zurich Airport Tour Video

TravelsWithSheila.com provides the above video tour through out the whole Zurich Airport. Zurich Kloten Airport has to be one of the easiest airports in Europe to navigate. Signs in both German and English, staff speaking many languages, free baggage carts both inside and outside the terminals and don’t hesitate: those luggage carts can even be used on the escalators, as shown on the video. When did you ever ride a train between terminals with Heidi on the wall blowing kisses, alpenhorns and cows mooing? It’s a real joy to fly into and out of Zurich Airport and especially spend some time there. :-)

Ocean Sky Installs Stone Floor in Global Express

London (PRWEB UK) 19 August 2011

As business jet owners strive to create increasingly exclusive flying environments, the interiors business of private jet company Ocean Sky (http://www.oceansky.com/) has successfully installed a stone floor in the entrance and galley area of a Bombardier Global Express.

The jet was fitted with a Baltic Brown granite floor at Ocean Sky’s Manchester interiors centre over a two-week period.

Ocean Sky Stone Flooring

Lenny Gray, general manager of Ocean Sky’s aircraft interiors business, says: “In addition to the granite’s attractive appearance, which features a defined crystal pattern, the stone also brings many practical benefits, such as significant durability and simple cleaning. The installation enables easy removal of the flooring if needed, and the material meets the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) 25.853 aerospace standard for flammability and the FAR 25.793 standard for floor surface friction.”

The granite installation is complemented by a sophisticated carpet pattern in the passenger cabin, lavatory and crew area.

Gray continues: “The multilayered structure of the flooring ensures minimum weight increases. The stone’s natural texture and patterns mean every aircraft with a Baltic Brown stone floor is unique, with a contemporary look and feel.”

Before starting work on the installation, Ocean Sky constructed a 3D model of the Global Express to ensure the colours and patterns met the client’s requirements and completed a trial fit on board the aircraft.

Throughout all stages of the installation, Ocean Sky ensured the work complied with all key standards and certifications through a series of rigorous tests, including humidity testing, ground survival testing and slip resistance testing.

Notes to Editors:

Ocean Sky is a fully-integrated private aviation services group, offering flight brokerage, aircraft charter, aircraft management, fixed base operation (FBO), aircraft engineering and aircraft interior services. Headquartered in London and at London Luton Airport, Ocean Sky has further operations in Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Russia and the United Arab Emirates. All group services are delivered under the Ocean Sky brand, reflecting the group’s strategy of offering consistently high standards of customer service and a “one-stop” solution to any private aviation need.
