Day 01: Mumbai – Zurich – Interlaken (Indian dinner cruise)

Arriving at Zurich Airport. After completing the formalities at the airport, go to the station to catch your train to Interlaken. On arrival check in. Rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 05: Lucerne – Zurich (Zurich Trolley Tour)

After breakfast, check with your Hotel in Lucerne railway station and continue to take the train to Zurich. On arrival check-in after visiting the city pass. If you’re looking into 2012 skiing holidays with a view to saving money by booking early, you may be wondering which destinations will be the best places to visit.

While there are many classic locations that draw crowds of skiers every year without fail, it is usually possible to spot distinct trends as certain hotspots attract more holidaymakers than others.

In 2012, expect to see Switzerland continue to ride high in skiers’ affections. The country offers an unbeatable combination of magnificent mountains, gorgeous lake scenery and plenty of variety in skiing terrain.

There are many slopes that are particularly ideal for beginners, although expert skiers will find much to challenge them as well.

Some of the most famous Swiss resorts include Zermatt, which boasts over 300 km of pistes across three different areas: the Gornergrat-Stockhorn, the Sunnegga-Rothorn and the Schwarzsee-Matterhorn glacier.

St Moritz is another well-known ski destination that could be described as the epitome of luxury – it’s definitely the place to be if you want to truly spoil yourself.

If you loved the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, you might want to head to Canada. Next year will see Canmore play host to World Cup cross-country ski racing in December – making Canada the perfect destination for a ski holiday as the anticipation of the event builds up throughout 2012.

Again, there are several top resorts to choose from – Whistler Blackcomb boasts 8,000 acres of terrain and a plethora of activities and events to keep both young and older skiers entertained, while Jasper in the Canadian Rockies has 3,000 ft of vertical skiing territory and 86 runs.

Banff, meanwhile, is a national park that takes its name from a Scottish location and is home to the ideal snow for skiing – light and dry. There are also natural hot springs to be found at the site.

Back in Europe, France is another perennial favourite that shows little sign of being banished from skiers’ must-visit lists any time soon.

There are dozens of resorts offering a host of different experiences across the country – the biggest include Courchevel, Val d’Isere and Meribel, all of which are well worth heading to.

If you’re visiting France with the kids, there are a number of family-friendly resorts that can do much to help your holiday go without a hitch.

Head to the Chamonix Valley and you will find Les Houches, a wonderful facility that has daycare centres, staff specially trained to help families and a host of activities designed with kids in mind.

Switzerland is a landlocked alpine country in Western Europe with roughly seven and a half million people and an area of just over forty thousand kilometres square. Switzerland is multilingual and has four national languages – German, French, Italian and Romansh.
